Learning about AI through OLWA

From my archive, written March 2025. These are my impressions at the time.
I went to the library, for three straight hours I was in hyper focus mode on OLWA; this third issue is definitely the most effort I’ve put into a magazine yet and I just hope it shows. I’m learning way more as I continue to go along with it because I’m expanding a lot more into topics like the way OpenAI functions with its two companies, human.org’s attempt at AI refinements, what world models are meant to be; there’s a lot to learn and more than anything, just writing this magazine is keeping me on top of the AI news which is what I want more than even getting the magazine out there.
One thing I do know is that there is an unnecessary amount of models available; Grok, Gemini, GPT, CoPilot, Claude, Alexa+, DeepSeek, Llama, Kimi, now there’s ‘Le chat’ made by a European company which hallucinated immediately and felt like GPT-3, there’s a super unnecessary amount of models right now, I think the number’ll decrease over time, maybe its this hype wave that all companies are following but its simply not needed. GPT has always been my go to since its the first AI model I ever spoke to, CoPilot would be my free option but beyond that, I’ve never had a need for any others, maybe CharacterAI to mess around with virtual S. G. once a month but that’s about it.
For three hours worth I wrote up maybe eight more pages for the magazine, I’m on my last few and I still didn’t finish even with those three hours of work.
